In the last few years the growth and expansion of green power sources has become one of the most fast growing sectors. This brought up the question of what equipment one must use in order to have superior results.

Value of installed equipment

It is quite obvious that equipment that’s worth a significant amount of money, but further more is bringing in profit to its owner, must have the right Surveillance system in order to avoid any unwanted damage. That damage may come from the harsh environment that these plants are usually situated or by human foul play that intend either to destroy or steal the installed equipment. The latter is greatly “encouraged” from the distant and crowd less locations these systems are installed.

Demanding environmental conditions

The environmental conditions in such projects are extreme due to the location of the plants. Snow, haze, wind, rain and significantly changing temperatures create conditions that standard CCTV products find hard to deal with. Furthermore, the need to monitor the site also during low light periods of the day creates yet another demand that the equipment chosen must compensate with. Only systems tested in the field can really offer the result needed.

Low bandwidth requirements

The flagship of the equipment used is CubisNX systems. CubisNX can offer excellent transmission speeds and picture quality considering the fact that due to the location of the plants, many times no fixed telecommunication line is present. Pictures may be transmitted over GPRS networks with excellent results.

Remote and/or centralized management

CubisNX systems offer connectivity to a remote Central Monitoring Station (maybe belonging to the owner of a chain of such power plants), giving thus the ability for remote video surveillance and patrol of all systems without the need of a local security agent, except in the case of a real incident that this agent may be called upon to act. In this way, guarding costs are cut to minimum and the security agents have to deal only with real events avoiding all false alarms (created by wind, animals etc).

Integration with other systems

CubisNX systems offer integration with systems as:

· Access Control. In “high sensitivity’ areas of a bank branch e.g. vault, file room, computer room or ATM, an Access control system may be present. Cubitech offers video footage matching the access control driven events. In this way every access movement is tracked and recorded not only from the Access Control system but also visually from Cubis NVR.

· Burglar alarm. Either from a Central Management location or from a local workstation, a burglar alarm event can be visually checked and verified before any actual action is taken by the security officer on duty. In this way any possibility of catching a guard rushing to the location of an event off guard, is eliminated.
